As an evening tutor, you can explain difficult concepts to a variety of students and are patient with those who get stuck.  You are organized and detail-oriented in order to schedule tutoring appointments, redirect students to access additional resources and provide quality feedback on homework and studying plans. 

As the activities coordinator, you are engaging and energetic with an interest in getting people excited about having fun!  You meet with students to find out what they think is fun and interesting and then plan and recruit students to attend activities.   You are brimming with ideas about how to enjoy Central Oregon and can't wait to share that with our students.

About College Excel:

Founded in 2003, College Excel is the nation’s leading residential college support program located in beautiful Bend, Oregon. At College Excel, post-secondary adults (18+) with diverse learning needs requiring extra support are provided the structure they need to move forward, both academically and personally. Using a proprietary, blended coaching model rooted in Harvard research-based neurocoaching and behavioral coaching techniques, College Excel students receive daily support from a team of credentialed and experienced Academic Coaches while earning transferable college credits.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordination of Activities:

  • Plan and run fun and engaging activities or our students
  • Interview current students to get input for planning activities 
  • Plan and prepare/pick up weekly brunch for staff and students
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and foster a sense of positive community
  • Provide shopping runs for students as scheduled


  • Assignment planning, completion and follow-through
  • Writing: composition, structure, grammar and formatting
  • Math: ability to assist to a minimum up to algebra
  • Assist with the development of college-level papers and projects 
  • Knowledge of study strategies and breaking down assignments 
  • Understanding how anxiety, procrastination and motivation impacts a college student
  • Lead study groups and workshops as needed

General Responsibilities

  • Supervision of the ACE facilities during study hours 
  • Documentation of activities and pertinent student observations
  • Securing, sanitizing and light cleaning of facilities
  • Provide shuttles to student’s residences or appointments as needed
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum requirements

Bachelor’s Degree

Experience working in an educational or social service / therapeutic related field 

Effective/strong communication skills, both oral and written

Strong organizational skills

Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting as well as independently 

Possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s License

Working knowledge of Google Drive, Docs and Sheets

Professional and dependable work ethic


Master’s Degree

Demonstrated ability to work with young adults

Experience working in a college setting 

An understanding of learning styles and experience working with individuals with different learning styles 

Knowledge of learning differences and effective classroom strategies

This is a fulltime, hourly, benefited position. Initial hours are between  20-30 hours per week. Evening and weekend work is required. 

Start date: end of August/early September.
